Carolyn Nur Wistrand is the artistic director of the Africana Performance Troupe in The Dept. of Africana Studies, University of Michigan-Flint, where she lectures in Contemporary Black Theatre, the Black Arts Movement, the Harlem Renaissance and African World Performance Traditions. She is also the playwright in residence for the Beecher Community School District advocating historical consciousness in drama. The author of numerous plays which address spiritual, racial, and feminine themes, her works have been performed in Hawaii, California, Texas, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and New York City. She holds a Masters degree in African American Theatre from Texas Southern University, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College in Vermont. |
